The project lies within the Carlingup Terrane in the east of the Archaean Ravensthorpe Greenstone Belt. It is located within the Chester Formation, which comprises a sequence of siltstones, shales, massive pyrite beds and Banded Iron Formations.
The project was initially focussed on the copper-gold potential of the historic Elverdton-Desmond workings. However, in 2008 the focus shifted to manganese following the discovery of a manganese rich horizon within the Chester Formation that returned rock chip samples up to 45% Mn. |
